In 608, when Yuwen Shu reaches Linqiang city, the Tuyuhun flee west in fear; Shu pursues, takes the two cities Mantou and Chishui, beheads more than 3,000, and captures 200 people from princes downward and 4,000 men and women.
述至臨羌城，吐谷渾畏述兵盛，不敢降，帥眾西遁，述引兵追之，拔曼頭、赤水二城，斬三千餘級，獲其王公以下二百人，虜男女四千口而還。
