On day Bingwu, the vanguard commander Shi Gongba met the Khitan north of Qicheng and was surrounded.
丙午，先鋒指揮使石公霸與契丹遇於戚城之北，為契丹所圍。

That day, the vanguard Gao Xingzhou was south of Qicheng; the rebel generals Zhao Yanshou and Zhao Yanzhao came out west of the royal army with tens of thousands of riders, and the Khitan ruler commanded in person.
是日，前軍高行周在戚城之南，賊將趙延壽、趙延昭以數萬騎出王師之西，契丹主自擁精騎出王師之東，兩軍接戰，交相勝負。
