What happened

Kublai was assigned the campaign against Dali; princes were assigned to Shendu and Molixi, and Hulagu to the campaign against the Sultanate in the western regions. (History of Yuan (Yuanshi), Annals 元史卷3 憲宗 1252年 7月)
